Some of the most innovative products for the custom industry come from the minds of custom integrators not coincidentally. They do, after all, have first-hand experience knowing their own and presumably others’ needs and pain points.
Also, unsurprisingly, many of these companies sprout up in the business operations/management sector, because there are always going to be opportunities to help owners run their businesses smarter and more efficiently.
Such is the case with Doug Greenwald, who created management software ProjX360 but also is CEO of Creative Sound & Integration in Scottsdale, Ariz. – a winner in this year’s CE Pro Home of the Year Awards program in the Best New Technologies project category.
Greenwald chatted with CE Pro about ProjX360’s CEDIA Expo Virtual booth (still accessible at projx360.cediaexpovirtual.com) in September and the importance of business management software in general.
What were some of your takeaways from the CEDIA Expo Virtual platform experience?
It was nice to interact with new dealers [for the first time on a large scale] since the start of COVID. One thing I can say is that it doesn’t replace meeting in person and can’t wait until next year when CEDIA [Expo] returns.
How did ProjX360 conduct interactions with attendees?
So we did two live demonstrations each day and my on-boarding and training director was meeting with existing customers to answer questions and go through best workflow practices of the software. We also had our live chat going and we allowed dealers to request personal one-on-one meetings with us
What was ProjX360 focused on sharing with attendees in terms of new features to the software platform?

Intel has used its appearance at the IEEE International Conference on Quantum Computing and Engineering to discuss its “full-stack” approach to quantum innovation, which it has touted spans across hardware, software, and algorithm development.
According to the company, its body of work highlights important advances across those areas, which it said were critical for building scalable commercial-grade quantum systems that can run useful applications.
Dr Anne Matsuura, director of quantum applications and architecture at Intel Labs, said quantum research within Intel Labs has made “solid advances in every layer of the quantum computing stack”, including with spin qubit hardware and cryo-CMOS technologies for qubit control, and software and algorithms research that she said would put researchers on the path to a scalable quantum architecture for useful commercial applications.
“Quantum computing is steadily transitioning from the physics lab into the domain of engineering as we prepare to focus on useful, nearer-term applications for this disruptive technology,” she added.
“Taking this systems-level approach to quantum is critical in order to achieve quantum practicality.”
As quantum is an entirely new compute paradigm, Intel said it requires a new stack of hardware, software, and algorithms in order to run future applications on a full-scale commercial quantum system.
“Simulations can help provide an understanding of how to build all components of the full quantum stack, taking workload requirements into consideration before they get built in real quantum hardware,” Intel said. “Quantum research efforts across this stack are all necessary today so that as the hardware matures, useful applications are ready to run on near-term smaller qubit quantum machines.”
This approach, Intel said, is central to its strategy of taking a “systems-oriented, workload-driven” view of quantum computing, which is the foundation of its vision of quantum practicality.

Singapore has developed a blockchain-powered application touted to better manage and secure medical records. Enabling healthcare data to be stored in a digital wallet, the software has been used in a pilot in which COVID-19 discharge memos have been verified more than 1.5 million times.
Government-owned investment firm SGInnovate and local startup Accredify jointly developed the “digital health passport” to support the management of medical records. Work on the application had begun in May during the height of the global pandemic, when SGInnovate roped in Accredify on the project. The Singapore startup specialises in document lifecycle management products, including document management and verification.
Funded by the Ministry of Finance, SGInnovate focuses its investment on deep tech startups that work on emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, quantum technology, and medical technology.
The newly developed digital health passport is touted to enable personal medical documents to be stored in a digital wallet, secured with blockchain technology, for easy access and verification. It also digitises medical documents for distribution such as COVID-19 discharge memos and swab results, helping to streamline the workflow of healthcare services providers.
This feature bypasses the need for paper-based documents, which are difficult to manage and easily replicated, lost, or misplaced, the organisations said in a joint statement Wednesday. The application is built on the OpenAttestation platform, which was developed by the Singapore government’s CIO office, GovTech, as an open source framework to notarise documents using blockchain.
