Best Buy Early Black Friday Deals Are Live Now: Cheap Games, 4K TVs, Headsets, And More

The wait is over–Amazon Prime Day 2020 is officially live, but you don’t have to be a Prime subscriber or even shop at Amazon to get amazing deals today. That’s because this has effectively become a precursor to Black Friday, and competing retailers are getting in on the action with steep discounts on games and tech this week. Best Buy is one of those retailers running a big anti-Prime Day sale of its own, and it made the biggest move we’ve ever seen to compete with Amazon by announcing its first Black Friday deals will go live this week.

Select deals from Best Buy’s Black Friday ad have gone live today, and they feature fantastic discounts on laptops, tablets, and 4K smart TVs along with Arcade1Up cabinets. Notably, you can buy a Samsung 70-inch 4K smart TV for $530, down from its usual $750–just in time for next-gen gaming. There’s not too much in the way of video game deals–the better prices are at Amazon today–but you can grab The Last of Us Part II for just $40.

The early Black Friday deals are live October 13 and 14, overlapping neatly with Prime Day, but this won’t be the last you see of Best Buy’s Black Friday sale. Best Buy plans to release its full Black Friday ad and offer even more deals later this month.

The retailer is also offering a Black Friday price guarantee this year. If you buy anything during the sale that gets an even better deal before November 28, you’ll be reimbursed the difference. The holiday return period for products has also been extended–anything you buy starting October 13 can be returned for a refund through January 16, 2021.

Programming error at the root of Ft. Bend Co.’s early vote issues, says county judge

Fort Bend County will extend early voting hours for the rest of the week in response to issues voters faced on day one.

Ft. Bend Co. DA: ‘Too premature’ to call vote errors as intentional

On Tuesday morning, polling places got off to a rocky start after reported errors became common at multiple locations.

ABC13 received numerous calls and messages from viewers in the county reporting that they weren’t able to vote. Shortly before 9:15 a.m., a precinct judge at a Missouri City polling place said the issue had been resolved and people were able to begin voting.

SkyEye was over the area in Sugar Land, where people were outside City Hall and Smart Financial Centre.

Still, outside of the event center, Fort Bend County Judge KP George said that for at least one hour there was an error in their program, delaying voting.

“Definitely apologize for that inconvenience, and as I understand, the machines are back,” George said. “The Smart Financial where we are right now, it is up and running. We are back online, and I hope there won’t be any distractions for voting. Once again… I just wanted to say sorry for what happened and we will be doing an investigation. We will be holding those responsible for it accountable. What happened is not OK, not acceptable in Fort Bend County.”

George later released this full statement:

I am extremely disappointed with the technical glitches that riddled Fort Bend County Election machines this morning. Remember, people have died for our right to vote. Stay in line or come back at a convenient time – the future of our country depends on us. You have three weeks to vote early. Remember, we have also extended the hours on the last three days

Final Fantasy 14’s 5.4 Update Is Releasing In Early December

Square Enix has revealed when Final Fantasy XIV’s next big content update will go live. During its latest Letter from the Producer broadcast, the publisher confirmed that Patch 5.4 for the popular MMO, titled Futures Rewritten, will release in early December, and it’ll introduce a wealth of additional content to the Shadowbringers expansion.

Among other things, Patch 5.4 will add new main story quests. As Square Enix describes, “Following the grand conclusion of the Shadowbringers story in Patch 5.3, players will set out on a new adventure” in the December update. The patch will also introduce the third installment in the Eden raid series, as well as the next chapter in the Sorrow of Werlyt questline.

Beyond that, Patch 5.4 will also bring the dreaded Emerald Weapon to Final Fantasy XIV. Players will be able to challenge it in both normal and extreme difficulties. There will also be a new dungeon, Matoya’s Relict, which is going to be part of the new main story questline. On top of that, the patch will introduce a new Unreal trial and a new Explorer mode that lets you venture around dungeons to take screenshots without have to worry about dealing with enemies.

Other changes coming in Patch 5.4: Violins will be added to the range of playable instruments; the Blue Mage job will receive numerous tweaks, including an increased level cap; the Triple Triad minigame is getting revised match rules and new limited-time tournaments; and more.

In the meantime, Patch 5.35 will arrive next week, on October 13. That update will bring its own assortment of new content to the game, including the next chapter in the Save the Queen questline and the new Bozjan Southern Front battle content. You can read more about the upcoming patches on Square Enix’s website.
